What USVL Certified means
The USVL Certified designation identifies moving companies that have met a higher standard of verification, performance tracking, and customer service than basic FMCSA licensing requires. Certified movers are reviewed and re-evaluated on an ongoing basis — not just at onboarding — and must maintain performance benchmarks to keep the designation active.
What USVL Certification requires
- Active USDOT licensing — current FMCSA registration with no active safety violations, revocations, or pending enforcement actions.
- Insurance verification — confirmed active cargo insurance and general liability coverage at or above the required federal minimums, with no coverage gaps.
- Customer review benchmarks — minimum average ratings across Google, Yelp, and the BBB, with no unresolved pattern of complaints about overbilling, delayed delivery, or claims mishandling.
- Binding estimate practice — Certified movers offer binding or not-to-exceed estimates on request, and do not require non-binding estimates as a default.
- Claims resolution track record — documented ability to handle damage and loss claims promptly and fairly based on customer-reported outcomes.
Why certification matters for your move
Any company can build a website and list a phone number. Not every company can maintain a track record of on-time delivery, proper handling, and fair claims resolution across hundreds of moves. The USVL Certified designation filters for that track record — so when you book through a Certified mover, you are booking with a company that has been verified beyond the minimum legal requirements.
